White instants that blink creatures

13 white Commander-legal instants that blink creatures are on this list. The most-played are Ephemerate, Cloudshift and Flicker of Fate (card data dated November 1, 2026).

A blink spell exiles a creature and returns it to the battlefield, so its enters abilities trigger again. Here are 13 white Commander-legal blink instants.

What these cards do

A blink spell exiles a creature and returns it to the battlefield. The creature comes back as a new object, so its enters abilities trigger again, and a removal spell or an ability aimed at it loses its target. Ephemerate and Cloudshift do it for one white mana, Momentary Blink for two.

Decks play them to reuse enters abilities and to save a creature from removal. Ghostway blinks every creature you control until the end step, Flicker of Fate also reaches enchantments and returns a creature to its owner, and Ephemerate and Momentary Blink can be cast a second time, with rebound and flashback.

Rules note: a blinked creature is a new object, so it loses its counters and its damage, the Auras on it go to the graveyard, and it can't attack the turn it returns unless it has haste.

How this list is built

White Commander-legal instant cards (mono-white or white and another color) whose rules text exiles one or more creatures and returns them to the battlefield, at once or at the beginning of the next end step, as each card was judged against the question "white instants that blink creatures". Sorceries, permanents and blink spells of other colors are not listed. One entry per card, most-played first.

Frequently asked questions

What does blink mean in MTG?

Exiling a permanent and returning it to the battlefield, usually right away. An object that moves to another zone becomes a new object with no memory of its previous existence (rule 400.7), so the returned creature triggers its enters abilities again (rule 603.6a) and is no longer what an opponent's spell was aimed at.

Does blinking a creature stop a removal spell?

Yes, if the creature was the spell's only target. The spell checks its targets as it resolves, the returned creature is a new object, so the target is illegal, and a spell whose every target is illegal doesn't resolve (rule 608.2b).

Can a blinked creature attack the same turn?

Only with haste. The returned creature is a new object you haven't controlled continuously since your most recent turn began (rule 302.6), so it can't attack or use a {T} ability that turn unless it has haste (rules 702.10b and 702.10c).

What happens to counters, Auras and tokens when a creature is blinked?

The counters are gone with the old object (rule 400.7), Auras attached to it are put into their owners' graveyards (rule 704.5m), and Equipment stays on the battlefield, unattached. A token doesn't come back at all: a token that has left the battlefield can't return to it (rule 111.8).
