Green fight and bite instants

45 green Commander-legal instants that make a creature fight or bite are on this list. The most-played are Archdruid's Charm, Ram Through and Khalni Ambush // Khalni Territory (card data dated November 1, 2026).

Fight and bite spells turn your creature into removal: it deals damage equal to its power to another creature. 45 green Commander-legal instants.

What these cards do

Fight and bite spells turn your creature into removal. In a fight, your creature and the target each deal damage equal to their power to the other, as with Khalni Ambush, Prizefight and Titanic Brawl; in a bite, only your creature deals damage, as with Ram Through, Bite Down and Infectious Bite, so it takes nothing back.

Green has few ways to remove a creature, and these are its best at instant speed: a big creature removes a blocker before combat or an attacker once it is declared. Some add value: Prizefight makes a Treasure, Windswift Slice makes Elf Warriors from the excess damage, and Ram Through sends excess damage to the player when your creature has trample.

Rules note: if either creature leaves the battlefield or becomes an illegal target before a fight resolves, neither deals damage, and fight damage isn't combat damage, so first strike doesn't apply and a fog doesn't prevent it.

On this list, the most-played bite spells, where only your creature deals damage: Archdruid's Charm, Ram Through, Infectious Bite, Bite Down and Windswift Slice.

How this list is built

Green Commander-legal instant cards whose rules text makes creatures fight, or makes a creature you control deal damage equal to its power to another creature, as each card was judged against the questions "green instants that make creatures fight" and "green instants that make my creature deal damage equal to its power to another creature". Sorceries and permanents are not listed. One entry per card, most-played first.

Built from the card data dated 2026-11-01.

Frequently asked questions

What does fight mean in MTG?

When two creatures fight, each deals damage equal to its power to the other (rule 701.14a). It isn't combat: the damage isn't combat damage (rule 701.14d), so it needs no attack, happens at instant speed with these spells, and first strike doesn't matter.

What is the difference between fight and bite?

In a fight both creatures deal damage (rule 701.14a). In a bite, a card that says your creature "deals damage equal to its power to" another creature, only your creature deals damage, so it survives even against a bigger target, and a bite from a creature with deathtouch destroys the creature it damages unless that creature is indestructible (rules 702.2b and 702.12b).

What happens if my creature is removed in response?

For a fight, neither creature fights or deals damage if one of them has left the battlefield or is an illegal target as the spell resolves (rule 701.14b). For a bite, a creature that is an illegal target can't deal the damage (rule 608.2b), so the spell does nothing to the other creature.

Do fight spells work with lifelink and deathtouch?

Yes. Fight and bite damage is ordinary damage dealt by your creature, so lifelink gains you that much life (rule 702.15b) and deathtouch destroys the other creature whatever its toughness (rule 702.2b).
