Commands only: no bot user joins your server, and the app asks for no permissions. Free, and no Mana Grove account is needed.

What it does

Scry searches by meaning, the same search as our website: describe what a card does, and it finds the closest matches, even when you can't remember the card's name.

The commands

/scry

Posts the five closest cards, each with its mana cost, type line, a one-line rules excerpt, a "Card page" link and a "Build with this card" link, plus a "Search on Mana Grove" button.

/scryimage

Posts the top match with its card image, a "Card page" link and a "Build with this card" link.

/scry and /scryimage each take a description of 2 to 100 characters. Type / in a channel to see the commands and their descriptions in Discord's command picker.

Replies are posted in the channel for everyone there to read, in the Discord language of the person who used the command, English or French. If a search is refused, only that person sees why. Scry reads the English card text, so search in English.

Who it is for

Commander and other MTG servers, from a playgroup's channel to a store's community. Everyone in the server can use the commands, unless an admin limits who can.

Limits

Searches are limited per person, per server and across all servers, and the daily limits reset at midnight UTC, so on a busy day the app may refuse searches until then.

Add it to your server

The server owner, or anyone with the Manage Server permission, can add the app.

It installs with Discord's applications.commands scope only, so no bot user joins your server and the app asks for no permissions. It does not read the messages in your channels: it answers its own commands and nothing else.

Choose who can use it, or remove it

In Server Settings, Integrations, select Mana Grove to choose which roles, members and channels can use its commands, for every command at once or one command at a time. The Integrations page is also where you remove the app from your server.

Command permissions can only be changed on desktop, and they apply on every device.
