Star Trek MTG Commander decks: decklists and dates (2026)

Star Trek MTG Commander decks as of October 27, 2026: the November 13 release, the four commanders, the We Are the Borg decklist and each deck's plan.

How our guides are made.

As of October 27, 2026, there are four Star Trek Commander decks, and they release on November 13, 2026, after Prerelease events from November 6 to 12: Federation Fleet, led by Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary (blue, red and white); Landing Party, led by Commander Spock (green, white and blue); Klingon Fury, led by Worf, Defiant Commander (red, white and black); and We Are the Borg, led by The Borg Queen (white, blue and black). The full We Are the Borg decklist is out and is below; the other three were still to come when we read the publisher's decklists page that day. Product details are on the publisher's product pages, and every Commander deck follows the Commander rules, section 903 of the Comprehensive Rules.

The decks belong to Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek, whose main set carries the code TRK, while the Commander cards carry TRC. Each box holds a ready-to-play 100-card deck (a traditional foil face commander with borderless art and 99 non-foil cards, 32 of them new to Magic), 10 non-foil double-sided tokens, a reference card and a deck box. Each deck also comes as a Collector's Edition, with every card in surge foil.

We Are the Borg: The Borg Queen

Colour identity: white, blue and black. The Borg Queen costs {4}{W}{U}{B} and is a 4/4 legendary artifact creature, a Borg Noble. The publisher's pitch: "The Borg Collective has arrived. Resistance is futile."

The plan: The Borg Queen gives artifact creatures you control +2/+2, herself included. Whenever she enters or attacks, target opponent exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a creature card, and you assimilate it: it enters under your control with a +1/+1 counter as a Borg artifact creature, so the anthem covers it. Tempered Steel stacks another +2/+2 on your artifact creatures. With Locutus of Borg out, each makes a 1/1 Borg artifact creature token when it deals combat damage to a player. Join the Collective destroys all creatures, yours included, and makes a 1/1 Borg artifact creature token for each nonartifact creature destroyed this way, so your artifact creatures add no tokens and each nonartifact creature your opponents lose gives you one.

Thirty-three of the 100 cards are new to Magic, by the publisher's count: two mythic rares, The Borg Queen and Locutus of Borg, and 31 rares. Locutus of Borg, {1}{W}{U}{B}, is a 3/3 legendary artifact creature with lifelink and the same colour identity, so either legend can lead these 100 cards (Comprehensive Rules 903.3 and 903.5c).

The We Are the Borg decklist

The publisher lists the cards by name. The reprints are sorted by type below; the Star Trek cards get their types here when the set reaches our card database.

Commander (1): The Borg Queen

Star Trek cards (36): Ambulatory Reactor; Assimilate the Wounded; Assimilation Assessor; Battle of Wolf 359; Borg Incursion; Borg Scout Sphere; Class-4 Tactical Cube; Co-Option Adjutant; Collective Override; Command Subadjunct; Conquest Mission; Deliver from Chaos; Emergency Regeneration; Extraction Integrant; Gift of Perfection; Hive Mind Coprocessor; Hugh, First of Many; Join the Collective; Jurati, Cordial Queen; Korok, Liberated Rage; Locutus of Borg; Locutus, the One Who Speaks; Maturation Chamber; One, Borg Evolved; Optimization Annex; Queen's Diamond; Reclamation Specialist; Reconnaissance Partition; Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct; Shore Leave Planet; Stratagem Emulator; Supplementation Node; The Best of Both Worlds; Transwarp Hub; Type-03 Borg Vessel; Võx, Child of the Collective

The publisher counts 32 of the 99 as new to Magic; Command Subadjunct, Conquest Mission, Hive Mind Coprocessor and Locutus, the One Who Speaks are uncommons from the main Star Trek set.

The reprints, by card type (63):

  • Instants (6): Anguished Unmaking; Bitter Triumph; Disallow; Dispatch; Return to Dust; Thirst for Knowledge
  • Sorceries (2): Thoughtcast; Toxic Deluge
  • Enchantment (1): Tempered Steel
  • Artifacts (17): Arcane Signet; Astral Cornucopia; Commander's Sphere; Darksteel Plate; Door of Destinies; Everflowing Chalice; Forsaken Monument; Skullclamp; Sol Ring; Stonespeaker Crystal; Swiftfoot Boots; Talisman of Dominance; Talisman of Hierarchy; Talisman of Progress; The Immortal Sun; Unwinding Clock; Wayfarer's Bauble
  • Lands (37): Academy Ruins; Arcane Sanctum; Choked Estuary; Command Tower; Contaminated Landscape; Drowned Catacomb; Eclipsed Steppe; Evolving Wilds; Exotic Orchard; Fetid Pools; Glacial Fortress; Irrigated Farmland; Isolated Chapel; Morphic Pool; Path of Ancestry; Port Town; Prairie Stream; Rogue's Passage; Shineshadow Snarl; Skycloud Expanse; Spire of Industry; Sunken Hollow; Terramorphic Expanse; Umbral Expanse; Underground River; 4 Plains; 4 Island; 4 Swamp

Game Changers: none of the 100 cards is on the list as last updated on February 9, 2026.

Mana Grove's bracket reading: pending the card data import. Our bracket checker also weighs mass land denial, extra-turn cards and two-card combos, so the reading waits for the new cards.

Federation Fleet: Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary

Colour identity: blue, red and white. Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary costs {1}{U}{R}{W} and is a 2/4 Human Officer.

The plan: Picard turns a deck of bigger historic permanents into card draw. Whenever another historic permanent you control with mana value 3 or greater enters, you draw a card, and artifacts, legendaries and Sagas are all historic, so a Spacecraft at mana value 3 or more counts too. Its seek out ability triggers whenever you draw your second card in a turn: a +1/+1 counter on up to one other target creature and two charge counters on up to one target Spacecraft. Seek out counts every turn, your opponents' turns included, so two draws on someone else's turn trigger it again, and each trigger moves a Spacecraft toward its station thresholds without tapping a creature.

The list: not public as of October 27, 2026; the publisher's page still reads "We'll reveal the contents of this Commander deck in the future!"

Mana Grove's bracket reading: pending the decklist and the card data import.

Landing Party: Commander Spock

Colour identity: green, white and blue. Commander Spock costs {2}{G}{W}{U} and is a 3/5 Vulcan Human Scientist.

The plan: Spock rewards a mana base of different names. Whenever it enters or attacks, you reveal the top card of your library, and you may cast that card without paying its mana cost if its mana value is equal to or less than the number of differently named lands you control. If it is a land card, you may put it onto the battlefield tapped, and if the card is still on top of your library, you draw a card. Strange new worlds counts each name once, and a Commander deck holds one copy of each card other than basic lands (Comprehensive Rules 903.5b), so every nonbasic land raises the ceiling and a second Forest adds nothing. Every trigger ends in a free spell, a land or a card.

The list: not public as of October 27, 2026.

Mana Grove's bracket reading: pending the decklist and the card data import.

Klingon Fury: Worf, Defiant Commander

Colour identity: red, white and black. Worf, Defiant Commander costs {2}{R}{W}{B} and is a 3/4 Klingon Warrior Officer.

The plan: Worf asks you to attack everybody. When it enters, you create a 2/1 red Klingon Warrior creature token with haste, so it brings its first attacker along. Its battlefront ability triggers whenever you attack: exile the top X cards of your library, where X is the number of opponents you attacked this turn, and until the end of your next turn you may play those cards. In a four-player game, sending at least one creature at each of the three opponents exiles three cards. Battlefront counts opponents, not attackers, and an opponent attacked twice counts once, so Worf wants several creatures spread around the table every turn rather than one big swing.

The list: not public as of October 27, 2026.

The Star Trek mechanics in brief

The new terms have no rule numbers yet, because our Comprehensive Rules snapshot (effective September 25, 2026) predates the set.

  • Assimilate: the card enters under your control with a +1/+1 counter as a Borg artifact creature and loses its other creature types.
  • Beam me up: cast some instants and sorceries from your graveyard by returning a creature you control to its owner's hand as part of the cost; the spell is exiled afterward, whatever happens to it.
  • Federation: abilities that count the creature types among your non-Borg creatures.
  • Face a dilemma: you face one as you choose one or more modes for a modal spell or ability.
  • Spacecraft and station return: station taps another untapped creature you control, at sorcery speed, to put charge counters equal to that creature's power on the permanent with the station ability, such as a Spacecraft (Comprehensive Rules 702.184a).
  • Battlefront and seek out: the two Commander-only ability words, on Picard and Worf above.

The rest are in our MTG keywords and mechanics glossary.

Build or upgrade one in the deck builder

The four face commanders were in our card database when we checked on October 25, 2026, so you can start a deck around one in the deck builder today, no account needed. The Validation tab checks exactly 100 cards including the commander, one copy of each card other than basic lands, and colour identity (Comprehensive Rules 903.5a, 903.5b and 903.5c). It also checks each card's format legality, and until the set's legality data arrives with its release, it may mark the new Star Trek cards, the commander included, as not yet legal. Once a list reaches our card database, its deck gets a page among our precon pages, ready to copy and upgrade with the ten-card method.

Frequently asked questions

When does Star Trek MTG come out?

November 13, 2026, for the set, the four Commander decks and their Collector's Editions, after Prerelease events from November 6 to 12; the set reaches MTG Arena on November 10. On October 16 the publisher warned that Commander decks in North America, English language ones in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and some Collector's Edition decks there may arrive after November 13.

How many Star Trek Commander decks are there?

Four: Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury and We Are the Borg. Each is a 100-card deck with 32 new-to-Magic cards in its 99, and each is also sold as a Collector's Edition.

Who are the Star Trek commanders?

Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary leads Federation Fleet (blue, red and white); Commander Spock leads Landing Party (green, white and blue); Worf, Defiant Commander leads Klingon Fury (red, white and black); and The Borg Queen leads We Are the Borg (white, blue and black). Locutus of Borg, from the Borg list, shares the Queen's colour identity and can lead that deck instead (Comprehensive Rules 903.3 and 903.5c).

Are the Star Trek cards legal in Commander?

Commander decks "can use cards from throughout Magic's history", says the publisher's Commander page, except the cards on the Commander ban list, and no card in the We Are the Borg list is on it. The release notes that give each set code's formats were not out on October 27, 2026; we add them here when they are.

Is there a Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander deck?

Yes, one for each deck: the same 100 cards with every card in surge foil, a surge foil face commander with borderless art, and 10 double-sided tokens that are surge foil on one side and non-foil on the other, plus a reference card and a deck box. We do not list prices or link to stores in this guide.

Where do the Star Trek Commander decklists come from?

From the publisher's decklists page on magic.wizards.com, which published the We Are the Borg list on October 26, 2026; on October 27 it still promised the other three "in the future". Previewed cards are in the publisher's card image gallery, and we add each list here when it is published.
