An artifact tutor searches your library for an artifact card, often the piece a deck is built around. 63 Commander-legal tutors, most-played first.
Ranked most-played first, the best artifact tutors in Commander are Urza's Saga, Enlightened Tutor, Inventors' Fair, Fabricate and Open the Armory. Every card on this list is legal in Commander as of the card data dated November 1, 2026.
An artifact tutor is a card that searches your library for an artifact card and puts it where you can use it. Fabricate finds any artifact, Whir of Invention one with mana value X or less, Trinket Mage one with mana value 1 or less, and Stoneforge Mystic and Steelshaper's Gift find Equipment. Artifact decks play them to find the piece the deck is built around.
They differ in where the card goes and what they can find. Whir of Invention, Kuldotha Forgemaster and Urza's Saga put the artifact onto the battlefield, Fabricate and Trinket Mage into your hand, Enlightened Tutor on top of your library, and Goblin Engineer into your graveyard for a deck that brings artifacts back. The Mages each find one band of mana value: Tribute Mage a 2, Trophy Mage a 3, Transit Mage a 4 or 5 and Treasure Mage a 6 or more.
Rules note: when you search for a card with a stated quality, such as an artifact card, you may choose not to find one even if your library holds one, and a found card stays hidden unless the effect tells you to reveal it.

Commander-legal cards whose rules text searches your library for an artifact card, or a card of an artifact type such as Equipment or Vehicle, alone or in a list with other types (an artifact or enchantment card). The card can go to your hand, the battlefield, the top of your library or your graveyard. Tutors for any card or any permanent card, which can also find an artifact, are not listed, and neither are searches of an opponent's library or searches that exile the cards they find for good. One entry per card, most-played first.

A card that searches your library for an artifact card. The rules call the action searching: "To search for a card in a zone, look at all cards in that zone (even if it's a hidden zone) and find a card that matches the given description" (rule 701.23a). An artifact tutor's description names the card type artifact, or one of the artifact types of rule 205.3g, such as Equipment or Vehicle.
No. When you search for a card with a stated quality, such as an artifact card, you aren't required to find it even if it's in your library (rule 701.23b), and you still shuffle if the card says to. A search for a quantity alone, such as "a card", is different: you must find that many cards, or as many as you can (rule 701.23d).
Yes. Equipment is an artifact type (rule 205.3g), so a search for an Equipment card can only find artifacts. This list counts those tutors: Stoneforge Mystic, Steelshaper's Gift and Stonehewer Giant find Equipment, and From Father to Son finds a Vehicle, another artifact type.
Ones whose colour identity is empty. A card fits a Commander deck only if every colour in its colour identity is also in its commander's (rule 903.5c), and colour identity counts the mana symbols in a card's rules text as well as its mana cost, plus any colour its colour indicator or characteristic-defining abilities give it (rule 903.4). Being colourless is not enough: Axgard Armory is a colourless land, but the {W} and {R} in its rules text give it a red and white identity. Urza's Saga, Inventors' Fair, Moonsilver Key and Kuldotha Forgemaster have no coloured mana symbol anywhere, so their identity is empty and they fit every deck.
