MTG Release Schedule 2026 and 2027: Every Upcoming Set and Its Commander Decks

As of October 27, 2026, the next Magic: The Gathering release is Star Trek: Prerelease events start November 6, the set reaches MTG Arena on November 10, and the tabletop release, with four Commander decks, is November 13, 2026. After it, the publisher has dated four sets for 2027: Nauctis: The Sunken Realm on February 5, Marvel: Darkhold Destiny on April 9, Kamigawa: Titanbreach on June 4 and Zhalfir on October 1. It says 2027 will have six sets in all, so two are still to be announced.

Below, each release with its dates, its Commander decks and why it matters at the Commander table, then the sets already out this year. We revise this page after the publisher's announcements; the date at the top is the last revision.

The calendar at a glance

Every announced release, in order

Star Trek: November 13, 2026

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is a Universes Beyond set and, in the publisher's words, its "final Magic set of 2026". Prerelease events start November 6, MTG Arena gets the set on November 10, and the tabletop release is November 13.

• Commander decks: Federation Fleet, led by Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary; Landing Party, led by Commander Spock; Klingon Fury, led by Worf, Defiant Commander; and We Are the Borg, led by The Borg Queen. Each has 32 cards new to Magic and also comes as a Collector's Edition in surge foil.
• Decklists: one deck a day on the publisher's preview schedule, from We Are the Borg on October 26 to Landing Party on October 29.
• Supply: on October 16, the publisher warned that Commander decks in North America, and English-language ones in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, may arrive after November 13.
• Why it matters: four three-colour decks and two Commander-only ability words, battlefront and seek out. Our Star Trek Commander decks guide covers the commanders and the mechanics.

Also on November 13: the new cards in Mystery Booster Commander Edition, a booster box built for Commander Draft, become legal in Commander, then in Legacy, Vintage and the other Eternal formats on January 1, 2027.

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm: February 5, 2027

A Magic Multiverse set on "a brand-new plane": an endless ocean with cities beneath the waves, home to merfolk, seals, homarids and a few daring humans, where tensions rise between two warring kingdoms, in the publisher's telling. No Prerelease date or Commander decks are announced yet.

• Why it matters: every 2026 set from the publisher's own worlds (Lorwyn Eclipsed, Secrets of Strixhaven, Reality Fracture) came with Commander decks; Nauctis's are not announced yet.

Marvel: Darkhold Destiny: April 9, 2027

Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny is a Universes Beyond set in which Dormammu and Hela tear open the walls between realities with a page of the Darkhold, in the product page's summary.

• Commander decks: the product page lists Commander decks and a Collector's Edition Commander deck in surge foil, with no names, commanders or count yet.
• Why it matters: it's the only 2027 set whose product page already lists Commander decks, and the third Marvel set, after Marvel's Spider-Man in September 2025 and Marvel Super Heroes, whose four decks came out on June 26, 2026.

Kamigawa: Titanbreach: June 4, 2027

A Magic Multiverse set the publisher calls "a clash between two iconic Magic planes": behemoths from Ikoria rampage through Kamigawa's biggest metropolis, and players fight them with mechs or play as the monsters. Commander decks are not announced yet.

• Why it matters: two planes Commander players already know, Kamigawa and Ikoria, meet in one set.

Zhalfir: October 1, 2027

A Magic Multiverse set back in the kingdom of Zhalfir, which the publisher says has "reentered the Multiverse as its own plane", with Teferi Akosa in the story. Commander decks are not announced yet.

• Why it matters: it's the last dated set in the publisher's window so far.

Two more sets, not named yet

In the publisher's words, "2027 will feature three Magic Multiverse sets and three Universes Beyond sets, alternating between the two." Its product pages name four 2027 sets as of October 27, 2026, so two Universes Beyond sets have no name or date yet. They go on this calendar the day they're announced.

Earlier in 2026

With Star Trek in November, that makes seven sets in 2026. Our set guides go back to 2025's Final Fantasy Commander decks, released June 13, 2025.

How this calendar is kept up to date

Every date here comes from the publisher's own announcements and product pages, listed under Sources with the day we read each one. We revise the page after the publisher announces a set, a date or a Commander deck, and again after each release. Revisions are not instant: the date at the top is the last revision. A date the publisher hasn't announced stays "not announced" here, never a guess. Secret Lair drops are left out.

Frequently asked questions
